The Temple
Amidst the lush green landscapes and the tranquil embrace of a nearby lake lies the Athvelly Shivalayam Temple, a sanctuary that is soon to bring to fruition the fervent aspirations of the people of Medchal and Hyderabad. This divine haven has been nurtured by their unwavering desire over a span of 15 years, a testament to the profound belief that nothing occurs without the divine's ordainment. Located just a short 10-minute drive away from ORR exit 6, this upcoming temple stands as a spiritual beacon echoing the sanctity of the famed Puri Jagannatha Temple. Aspiring to uphold the hallowed traditions, the rituals here are meticulously conducted in adherence to the practices observed at the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Encompassing a sprawling expanse of 3 acres, the temple complex is nestled amidst the embrace of nature's bounty, surrounded by lush greens and a serene lake. Within its precincts, a 20-year-old Shiva Temple Shree Chandramouleshwar Swami stands as a testimony to time's passage, alongside Parswa Mandirs dedicated to deities such as Kanka Durga Bhavani Mata, Tripura Sundari Mata, Bhubaneshwari Mata, Ganesh Maharaj, Sai Baba, Sri Ram, Mata Sita, Sri Lakshman, Kala Bhairava, Naba Graha, Datatraya Maharaj and Ranukailama Mata. The temple opens its doors to devotees from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the afternoon. The Sandhya Arati, performed daily during sunset, adds an ethereal touch to the already enchanting ambiance. Delightful offerings, known as Bhog, are presented twice each day, at 12:30 PM and 8:30 PM.
The forthcoming construction of the Shree Jagannatha Temple is set to commence during the sacred month of Kartika. This auspicious beginning is graced by the presence of several revered saints who are scheduled to visit the temple premises. A cornerstone of this sacred space is the Jay Jagannath Seva Samiti, a dedicated organization overseeing cultural and social initiatives aimed at promoting the legacy of Jagannath culture and literature. Registered under the Chandra Mouli Sara Swami Trust with Regd. No. 102/2023, the Samiti plays a vital role in maintaining the sanctity, equity, cleanliness, and discipline that pervade the temple.
A pilgrimage to this divine abode is an invitation to experience the ineffable grace of Lord Shree Jagannath. As you step into the embrace of Athvelly Shivalayam Temple, the devotion of the community, the serenity of nature, and the unwavering pursuit of spirituality merge into a harmonious symphony, leaving an indelible impression on every soul fortunate enough to visit.
